Niels Brunse Denmark
Niels Brunse, born 1949, is one of Denmark's most renowned literary translators, writes book reviews for the Copenhagen daily Politiken, and has published three volumes of poetry, a collection of short stories and plays. Brunse made his name as novelist with the highly-acclaimed Ramoth-Bezer in 1994, but he is also known as one of Denmark's best translators from Russian, German and English. He has recieved many awards both in Denmark and aboard for his translation work; most recenly the German Übersetzerpreis der Kunstiftung Nordrhein-Westfalen.
His book, Havmanden (The Seaman), was published in August 2005, and has received serious interest abroad. This is a novel about present day tv-producer, John Vivilt, who travels back in time to Oliver Cromwell's England and is thus thrown into an attempt to change history.
